You may have one or the other or even both. Constipation is a little more tolerable than a runaway bowel but still both problems are an indication of poor health.
You’ve probably heard about colon cleansing and some of the expensive products associated with them. The most important ingredient is psyllium and is the primary ingredient in commercial products like Metamucil or BeneFiber.
Some people find the capsules more convenient than mixing up the powder but both are effective as long as you drink enough water. Without adequate hydration you could find yourself even more constipated than ever.
If the water doesn’t push it through then it’s time for extra help. We recommend Cascara Sagrada because it is very gentle and usually produces a bowel movement in 8-12 hours. Many formulas contain Senna which is very harsh, can cause gripping pain, nausea and diarrhea. Senna is also a popular ingredient in weight loss products such as diet teas.
These products offer solutions for an immediate problem but what about long term? Do you know what causes constipation or IBS? Most likely parasites are the cause. Intestines are the perfect breeding ground for bacteria, fungus such as Candida, parasites and worms.

Pinworm
Ridding yourself of these nasty pests will take some time. We’ve seen claims for 7 day cleansing programs but most of the time it takes longer, at least a couple of months to kill the parasites and their eggs.
A great product to use long term is Triphala, a traditional Ayuvedic formula that originated in India. Triphala literally means “3 fruits” that tonify the colon. It is not a laxative and is excellent for IBS sufferers and those with Crohns disease.
Triphala is also good for eliminating parasites but is not generally included in the parasite protocol because it’s used mainly for intestional issues. Parasites can live in all parts of the body, including the brain. Alzheimer’s anyone?
